Maybe it's the way Italians design things, stand behind a 916 and the seat unit on the 916 is the same shape as a woman's thighs and hips, narrowing to her waist for the seat before expanding out to her chest with the petrol tank, the 916's bodywork is shaped like a statuesque woman when you stand behind the bike.

 

That was Tamburini's intention IIRC....just what you would you expect from an Italian!
