Mine only has about 49k on it, and interior holding up pretty well tbh, and doesn’t look 20yrs old. It sat still for 10 yrs tho, and you can see early life was more of a daily driver (few nicks in leathers etc). It’s full leather too, which I think helps. It could do with a refresh if being picky.
Actually, the other option is a second bike I get much less pleasure from driving these days than I used to. And the threads here don't help... wouldn't mind a winter bike with heated grips and less aggressive riding position... and maybe even some panniers. Must be old age.
Correctomundo @Outliar ...In collaboration with Williams.....only £1.5 million....pocket change.....lol
@rob lewis put me on to a local fella for the works detail. Held off while I use it and it needed a stero and some work, but think I’ll havebit done before I stick away for the winter
I like that, the white and black have always worked well on those, the gold/orange writing, not so much likeee
and something special I worked on....being sold through Sothebys auctions...Single stage paint...was a B**T**D to correct & refine!!!
It’s a 993 Carrera 4, 1996 Varioram car. So last of the air cooled engines and all that, which is something I was after. I love the noise of the air cooled cars, and the more analogue driving experience (it has an early form of traction control and of course 4WD, but it is a mechanical system not electronic, and you really have to be trying for it to kick in). Unfortunately, the car goads you in the ‘right’ mood rather too quickly. Last year I undertook an un-marked police car on the slip road joining a motorway near me, sling-shotting off the roundabout. My heart sank as I saw the blue lights... I slowed down and indicated to pull over, but he just overtook and gave me a thumbs up signal! The colour is Arena Red, quite a rare colour for Carreras. I don’t usually like red cars (funny I know given most of us have red bikes... but an Italian red bike is somehow not trying too hard and wears it well... ahem...). But this Arena Red really shows off the curves of the 993. Only problem is it looks horrid when dirty: just a dirty maroon car. The stance of the car is improved with a slightly modified ride height. She has “RS +20mm” ride height via different springs and some suspension geometry changes (set up for fast road as I don’t track this car) - which is lower than the standard car but not so low as the more track-oriented RS version of the 993.
