Yes it’s all very confusing... The original 996’s ‘fried egg’ headlights (version one) have really grown on me, and the early 3.4 cars are looking quite classic in my view... it’s a design that’s aged well, and it’s less fussy and much cleaner than the later 996s. Originally the front lights were criticised because they were identical to the new Boxster’s headlights, which irked a lot of people paying for a premium Porsche model... but that just no longer matters any more. But my Ducati 996 is more beautiful
Lovely... when I got by 993 I would have happily got any Carerra from 3.2 to 964 to 993... but being the youngest of these cars, the 993s were easier to find in nice condition... The 3.2 was the car I drooled over as a kid getting the bus to school, where I used to pass one every day...
Similar here, left school in 83, learned to drive 1984, all I can remember is seeing the news full of yuppies and Guards Red 911 with whale tails. Had to wait till I was 36 before I got one, kept it ever since.
Took me a bit longer (10 years more...) - I should have done it sooner... I nearly did... looked at a lovely chrome bumpered 911S German import going for 18k back in 2004, and passed on it... hindsight and all that!
If I had the cash to buy, and more importantly to run, I would have bought an 80's whale tale. But I want something I can use for 5k miles pa easy..
Have a soft spot for alfas having had a 75 twin spark back in the day and more recently a 159 sportwagon. Preferred the 75 of the two, just the rust was the problem.
May as well add ours to the mix ( Manual - the proper one ) Carrera 4 But did remember the bins in my pic
Just had a run round France and Belgium. Stopped in a service Station a group of Belgian enthusiasts pulled in. Amongst which were Jag Mk2 a Tr6 and the one that stood out to me was a lovely Red Zagato. They had gone before o got to my camera
