And there is the rub, “worth it to someone”. Hopefully someone who will ride and enjoy it for what it was meant to do and not hide it away in the misconception it is an “investment”. Andy
Absolutely, I’m looking for something to do both, ride occasionally AND hopefully increase in time as an investment (hopefully). My 30 year old GSXR gets ridden on decent days and covers around a 1000 miles a year, the rest of the time it’s in a heated, dehumidified garage under a cover on a trickle charger
Did spot this 360 mile old 748sps… price was a little surprise though ! https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/sa076a-lot-16676-1998-ducati-748-sps?el=16676&pn=1&pp=100
and have you noticed the big cracks in the monoposta seat ? There’s history there someone is not telling. Andy
Lovely but ridiculous on the price front and as Andy has pointed out what's going with that single seat unit, perhaps left out in the conservatory for long periods or other.
IMO they are asking roughly double its value, yes it’s rare with not many imported, but there were still 700odd made world wide and it’s not a numbered edition with a plaque which is where I feel value really starts coming in. seat unit is cracked which is strange but it’s done it uniformly from both vents on both sides, that tells me it’s down to how it was stored rather than outright damage. Everything else appears to check out.
The seat has been forced over the tank IMO, easily done but should have been mentioned. Agree about the price. Being low volume doesn't make something rare, a vase that has survived 2000 years is my definition of rare. Andy
Based on this price https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/22452486...rentrq:865ed69e17a0a64d7e288cd9ffde1401|iid:1 then yes your right, but remember it's in that all important fast yellow coachworks.
As I’m sure you are well aware, the 748SP and 748SPS were only available in the “important fast yellow coachwork” as was the early 748R The 748SPS in your link looks to have been enjoyed and relatively well looked after by the previous owner. Shame the current owner knows sh*t Price is IMO about right though. Andy
He's mixing in the right circles in life looking at the photographs and probably will get that amount of money.

748 / Bip With just 7000 miles on the speedometer, just remember to take your bucket & spade with you. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/11489535...rentrq:b8a54eb417a0a6e5b00cb0cdffbb63c8|iid:1
I saw that one, quite nice actually and pretty much unmolested . It’s on my radar along with a 3500mile yellow 996, problem being I don’t mind yellow, but much prefer red. I think if I did go for a 748 I would want an S or SPS. 998s would probably be my ideal realist bike with my limited budget.
