I've also recently taken out a warranty policy with WD on my 10 Plate MTS, for £340 with the cost of an MOT included free within the price, so all in all a pretty good deal I thought. However, some of the negative comments made here with respect to making a claim might reflect differently, but then I think there's quite a of of evidence 'out-there' regarding most insurance companies who will try to wriggle out of the policy, given even the remotest opportunity!!:frown: I hope I won't have to use it, but bearing in mind the rather repetitive nature of the range of defects mentioned by many owners here, this event looks highly likely Reminds me I must ask for my MOT cost to be refunded....DOH!
Think I will look at this for my bike now the prices have come down a bit. Must say after using them for my wifes Astra and had claims in the region of £4000, alternator, gearbox and ABS they were great and had no real issues once they see all the relevant paper work. I didn't hesitate taking out a 3 yr policy with them on the Audi A3 i got her. It cost just over £1000 and paid in 3 instalments
It was a Alfa 156 direct European import back in the days when it made a huge difference in the cost, you only got a 1 year manufacturers then. If the whole gearbox had failed they would have paid, they tried to argue it was normal wear and tear on a rubber item!
If its covered, they pay. If its not, they wont. Alas we all believe its covered when it fails, whether it is or not
If any of you are thinking of taking out a policy, let me know. If you use me as the referral I get a cheque for £20 which I'll happily split with you.
Hi guys - just tried to set up motorcycle cover with Warranty Direct for my 1200S only to find that the product I'm being offered has a claim limit of £2K and does not appear to cover the suspension other than simple mechanical failure ( i.e. none of the electronics & associated components ) I'm told by WD that this is the only motorcycle product they sell - is this the level of cover that you all have? Cheers.
I'm sure someone posted a policy schedule at one point and I also have a recollection of a claim limit of £5000?.........moving goal posts and all that, reassessed the risks I guess. Just checked my Policy and it is the same; £2,000 limit per claim, £4,000 limit per policy, £0 excess. For £340 I thought that was a pretty good bet. Beware of Murphy's Insurance law; As long as I have the Warranty nothing will fail but as soon as I let it lapse I will have a big bill!
Well I decided to go with the WD cover, as mentioned by Kirky, Murphy's law and all that. Only difference is mine cost me £200! £2K cover, £4K limit, £0 excess and agreed my dealer choice ( for that read Cornerspeed! ) authorised for repairs if required. Even got 4 x 0% interest payments and a £20 introduction cheque for Mrs RJ as we have a WD warranty on her Mini so actually paying out £180! Happy with that result!
