Welsh Bikers Ride Harelys

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Char, Jan 14, 2015.

  1. The point is that 50mph roads don't have to be maintained to the same standard as 60mph roads, thus saving local authorities a ton of money, so they're all looking to drop roads to 50 wherever they can - any excuse will do. The bastards.

  2. What's the fine difference between being caught doing 70 in a 50 over being caught doing 70 in a 60?

  3. Probably a ban in the near future *raised eyes*

  4. Are you certain of that ? Not challenging it just curious. It is an argument I haven't heard. The one road that has gone from 60 to 50 close to where I live does have high biking activity on it.

  5. ii wonder if there are statistics to prove that bikers have proportionally higher accident rates on said roads.

  6. According to "Roadcraft" bikers are 35x more likely to injured than a car driver IIRC.

  7. yes I know that in general,, just wondering about these specific roads

  8. tbh , a biker is much more likely to be injured in a crash than a motor car driver, but that does not mean that they are involved in proportionally more accidents .

  9. Accident v journeys all stats seem to demonstrate riding a 2 wheeled anything is more risky than a tin box on wheels.

But with dash cams, telematics, H&S measures it won't matter, as most bikes will be banned and the rest of the bikers banned from those pretend plooders sending in thir videos.

Where do I get my POLITE tabbard from?

  10. I'd be fed up if I had to listen to an assortment of Victorian ironmongery clattering past my house every five minutes sounding like a collection of flatulent pond pumps. But I can't see how reducing the speed limit from 60 to 50 will help. On a Harley 50 mph is flat out with the valves bouncing. They're still going to make an awful racket. They need some Ducatis up there and the majestic thrum of open Termis. The villagers wouldn't mind that.

  11. In response to complaints from Welsh villages about the noise levels of their current crop of bikes, Harley launch a quieter new model. No Screaming Eagle slash cut chimney stacks will be available. Following on from the Fat Boy, the new bike will be called the Steam Boy. Welsh petrol stations are stocking up with coal for what is expected to be a solid fuel renaissance as soon as the Steam Boys start appearing on Welsh roads.

  13. there on the wrong side of the road. no wonder there are so many accidents

  14. Good point.

  15. Can't say I blame the villagers. I find unsilenced Harleys deeply offensive too.

  16. I like Harleys,, but choppers,, not dressed fkn stuff,, proper old fashioned choppers,, great.:upyeah:
what kind of HA are goin around on dressers ??????:Banghead:

  17. I think some journo found a random picture for his report - doubt German Harley riders would make it to WALES

  18. Or would want to go there...

  19. As most HD's struggle to get to 60mph anyway, it probably won't make any difference...
And most of the damn things make just as much noise standing still as they do moving flat out.
So - what is this really about ? maybe it's about creating another reason to ratchet down the speed limit, and persecute bike riders ? Call me cynical...
A couple of people down our way have already suggested a trip out that way...
