It had some mad engine in it with oil coolers & stuff! The bloke was a bit of a cock ! Doing burnouts & nearly lost it. Some very expensive cars there
Yep, I noticed the grilles in the leg shields and knew he had a radiator of some description in the glove box. Probably running a 350LC motor.
Don't the 851/888/900ss of the early 90's have an understated elegance about them, no unnecessary details, often wish I still had my 900ss. That Aurella is also simply gorgeous, again a simple elegance about it. It looks as if Alfas also seem to have been out in strength, I believe that's an Alfa 75 behind your bike and a nice White Spider behind the Aurella.
I know where there are some Pantahs lurking, ready for a resto. I think that the 750SS 900SS are currently great bargains and very undervalued. The Pantah-based bikes seem largely overlooked. Bevels hog the limelight.
Lots of lovely cars Ferrari’s & Lamborghinis doesn’t really do it for me I like the ones from the 60s and 70s but the new ones look like something of Fast and Furious I like Alfa’s I had a alfasud when I was 21
Yep .... that's got to be a contender . And it has the added bonus of getting the thread back on topic .... after a bewildering detour around cars ..... and even a bread van !
If your Ducati always starts first time, has good unflaked & original engine paint plus no cracks in the speedo, you have a rare one yourself.
Now this is rare and has Ducati engine, meet the owner when I was in Cornwall this summer, it had less than 500 miles on the clock
Most rare doesn't necessarily translate into most desired or largest monetary worth. Here are some of the most rare regular production Ducatis....... 900GTS, 500 and 350 GTL, 500 and 350 Desmo Sport and the Sport derived GTV, 89-90 750 Sport, 750 Paso, 906 Paso, Ducati 907, Alazzurra 650 GT/SS, Pantah 650, 91' 851 Strada (especially the ones sold by Ferracci with the Superbike spec engines, which I have), 99' 900ie Supersport, 97-98 900CR in yellow, and a very few 97' 900CRs sold with the SS wheels. Several of these bikes production numbers were less than 1000 and the rest were well under 10000 units. I have only seen one 900GTS (mine), two 500GTLs (sold one and still have one), zero 350 Twins of any kind, zero Desmo Sports, five 750 Sports (89-90 only), Four Pasos (I own two of them), one 906 Paso (bought that one new, but no longer own it), Two 907 Pasos, Three Ally 650SS (sold the one which came with Montjuich cams from the factory which would outrun a 900SS easily, still have the other two), never saw a Pantah 650, only two 851/888s (one is mine with the Ferracci Superbike engine from new), one 99' 900ie (mine), one 98' 900CR in yellow (mine and it is the square headlight version), and one 97' CR with SS wheels (mine, factory must have slipped on the wider wheels by accident). If anyone wants to know the exact number of any of these I have a Ducati book by Falloon which gives production numbers........
The rarest Ducati is the model that you desperately want and have the cash waiting for but can't find for sale anywhere
Well... anyone looking for an '89 851 Strada (original mono), 860GT or MHR is welcome to get in touch
How about an 888SPS? Only ever seen one on a ferry across an Italian lake. I tried to buy it but with my Italian and his english it never happened. Carbon fibre tank etc.
You are not alone, my first Ducati was a 1991 900ss that I miss so much and I should never have sold it! I didn’t appreciate what I had at the time, I was about 27 years old and I had no clue.
