never ask a mechanic for advise when purchasing a car, we only ever see the bad ones. personally i only drive fiat or alfa A the look cool. B they never brake down i do uber millage's all hard fast miles. never a problem.
she now has her heart set on the hyund i20... not a bad looking thing and seems to be some good value ones about
Nope megane looks way better.... Ours i thought looked pretty good as the bumper were all colour coordinated and it had fat 17" wheels...
not yet. she is very difficult and quite battered by the chemo this last week so hasnt wanted to shop. hard work
Without ignoring JR45's comment which suggests they are good, I hated my 2006 Hyundai Coupe......It looked fairly good and the spec seemed good as well, but....... ....the CCV unit packed up several times, despite new OEM parts being fitted; the rear brakes and the handbrake were / are crap...........New calipers both sides twice in five years, constantly seizing solid. Front discs changed twice because they warped (could be because the rear calipers were/are so bad all the braking force was transferred to the front) Rust bubbling the paintwork in several areas; two small dings and the metal folded up like paper.......what a big smack would have done, who knows, but we didn't feel safe in at all. (I should have had my Nissan SX200 Turbo suspension mounts repaired all round and kept it instead of the buying the Hyundai as a matter of necessity) Dipped beams no better than candles. Open a window slightly in the rain and water p*ssed in off the roof going round a corner...........all of which ended up in the window, locks and mirror switches. I felt the car was all style and no substance. I reckon Hyundai (and Kia, possibly) were all built using 5th Generation machinery as opposed to 20th Generation machines used by the 'bigger' car manufacturers. (Even if Hyundai are owned by Ford??) It reminded me of Proton.........terrible resale value on top of bad build. Still..........I now have a Volvo.........which at one time was owned by Ford, but sold to the Chinese.........Can't win really.
