ZZ Top on the tube to work today. Nothing like a bit of good Hard Rock to wake you up in the morning!
Chris, thanks for this, as a kid we had no tv , so entertainment was of the radiogram variety, one of my favourite LP's was the story of Aladdin with this score in the background, fabulous!
I am presently listening to "Radio Paradise USA" on the internet. NO commercials, a couple of words every 3 or 4 tracks and just the most fabulous mixed up assortment of eclectic alternative music with some greats that I know but plenty that I've never heard but love. If you are open and enjoy a wide spectrum then give it a try! They just played "Daughter - Amstardam" and I think that gives an example of how closely the team select new upcoming bands from the UK. https://www.radioparadise.com/rp_2.php?#
ooh lovely, I like this thanks, new to me, anything else of his to search out? (middle bass riff is sort of reminiscent of early Yes):
agree entirely, a few months back I posted Moonage Daydream in memory of a mate, whom had passed away, music from this era had such an influence, here's yet another favourite (..."But we move like tigers on Vaseline") love it.
I'm still a big fan of Yes Steven Wilson has a vast catalogue - as a solo artist, as part of Blackfield, No-Man and the magnificent Porcupine Tree, amongst others. You can definitely hear influences of Yes and Pink Floyd in some of it. Recommendations? Wow. Too many to list. Porcupine Tree - Psychedelic/Space Rock Voyage 34? Heavy Progressive Stupid Dream or In Absentia? Remarkably poignant progressive solo work The Raven Who Refused to Sing. Baroque and strange early No-Man (I particularly like their track Housewives Hooked On Heroin, sublime). I love all kinds of music, almost any genre but if I was only allowed to listen to one artist, it would be Wilson. He covers so much ground
I have been searching for thirty-five-fucking-years for this song. Literally. It is on a cassette mix-tape someone gave me in 1981 but I didn't know what the song was called, who it was by and, being an instrumental, it was impossible to try to search for it. You have no idea what it means for me to have finally tracked it down. Marvellous. Truly marvellous!
