They are very close to each other. Must be the entire area. My memories (such as they are) of Doncaster weren't brilliant either.
My Grandmother lived in Hull. She was an old fashioned northern Methodist who disapproved of frivolity. Think Nora Batty but with added religion. Many times as a kid I was warned after some misdemeanour that I'd be going to hell. Sounded like Hull. And John Prescott lives there.
Even contemplating life in these places makes me feel worried and depressed. Hopefully it will never happen! I shall make sure it doesn't.
Best was Ribley Valley? Worst Outer Hebrides or south holland. Where I live now scores in the middle. I suspect because people are perhaps more extrovert. I'd rather have a house boat on the Thames.. or better still, live abroad where the climate is less wet and warm in winter.
