Thing is, a few centuries ago, I definitely would have done for this view. And no doubt in Pakistan, I still would if I ever dared voice what I really thought about Islam.
Thankfully it hasn't started here in NZ yet (the Xmas advertising) Sheepshagging has been going on since the Welsh immigrated here a coupla hundred years ago !!!
As a kid when I had a big extended family it was fab. Christmas when I was married as good as the marriage ie hell. I used to love it , but that was because it was full of people I loved. I pretty much do what you do Ducbird. The last 3 I have wanted to no word of a lie shoot myself. I just went to bed the other year. I love it when other members of my family ring to ask if I am having a good Christmas ..... one year it caused a massive row as I said yeah its great I have no family here , my friends have all got married or loved up and spending Christmas with each other. My parents where decorating?????? I said no I hate it and its shit.Whats great about being on your own at Christmas, I never ever dreamed that would be me. Apparently I am not allowed to say that. Each year I hope it will change.. This year I am already getting upset about as my family have all made plans.I see my friend for a walk every xmas eve and thats it for me. Nothing until New Year which I equally hate. Or for a an hour I have to put on a brave face and go to my ex house to drop off gifts to my lot who are with my ex boyfriend who thinks its great I am on my own because I should have stayed with him. One year I drank a bottle of whiskey and was sick and went to bed I don't even like whiskey or drinking much. Going from huge family Christmas's and having family I loved , to loosing your family through death and suddenly being on my own is my own little hell. I used to love buying stuff for people at Christmas and spoiling someone there is nothing nicer then spoiling someone in my eyes
I agree completely. I love Xmas so much more than New Year. However this year will be different from the past with two babies around
I find some of the cries for help that get posted on here are quite distressing. Some of you really do need help, and it's available, can I politely suggest that you seek some out because it might do some good, lift the gloom and give some hope Have a think folks
Feel for you girl .this year Will be a first for me without the wife .but trying to stay positive .have invites and my daughters from first marriage so will be ok.take care girl .
I fancy another foreign track day, shame the don't do one over Christmas ,know where i'd be and it wouldn't be eating roast dinner and watching old episodes of only fools and horses.mind you they were funny.
1. Christmas should be optional, but it seems to be thrust upon us all. Personally I like it and I opt in, but there should be the choice. If I have a lit pumkin on my door step feel free to knock and i'll give you a sweetie. If I have Christmas decorations up, feel free to carol sing. If I haven't Feck Off! 2. Save Christmas for...........well Christmas. I detest seeing the first Christmas puds and wrapping paper in shops in September. YES September! Do you think I could find anywhere to buy shorts this September? When the sun finally came out and I needed them. Noooo. Should have bought them in April when it was cold and wet. 3. I would rather take my limited holiday in the summer riding, than in the winter spending it fighting ignorant oiks in supermarkets and M&S. 4. People aren't lonely at Christmas. Christmas just reminds them that they are. If you have a friend on their own, be a FRIEND hug them NOW (as above)! Don't wait until Christmas. 5. I don't dislike decorations going up in the house. I do dislike the barron look when they are taken down. 6. I put away the lights working and neatly placed in the box. So why do they come out more matted together than hair from a bath drain. And why do I have to spend 3 hours twiddling bulbs to make the feckers work. 7. I don't eat and drink too much at Christmas. I eat and drink to much all year and continue it through the Christmas period. I do like the fantastic roast Turkey and trimings my wife does (but then all year round too). 8. If I want something I buy it. At this time of year I get told, someone might get you that for Christmas. Wait and see. WAIT!!! 9. I hate finding presents for people that say "Oh get me anything". 10. I look forward to some good films and programs on TV at Christmas. So why in the last 10 years haven't there been any? 11. Christmas/New year sales:- I want to live long enough to see DFS sofa store NOT to have a sale. One has had a 'Closing Down Sale' sign up for 3 years. 12. I shudder at Easter eggs being displayed in stores on Jan 2nd. Since it is October, let me be the first to wish you all a Happy Christmas.
