749 Whoops 2....with Bins!

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by RickyX, Jul 22, 2018.

  1. Got my new R back home...
Gave it a quick clean and polish.
Evidence of previous track use in the documentation plus 4 spare Accosato levers....but has been serviced to death..nice!
Nice clutch. Nice pipes. Nice master cylinders.
No evidence of damage apart from a tiny crack in the front mudguard.
Annoyingly, the clock faces are both cracked which is the most disappointing thing about the bike but otherwise it’s gorgeous!

  2. Very perfunctory bin shots. Poor effort.

    Bike seems OK though *thumbup*

  16. Some kind of quick action thingy...looks a bit ostentatious - there’s a standard q/a single cable one in the box of bits (like I have on my track one). I may change it if I fancy something more normal.

  17. Get a motion pro if you find the current one to stick out too much but definitely don't, under any circumstance, switch to a single cable. The secondary cable acts as a fail safe, in case the primary cable snaps. Highly unlikely, I know, but as they say, hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

  18. I have a single cable on my other 749R.
Same as my old 916 and my M1100.
The current one doesn't interfere with anything so I'll leave it be for the moment.

  19. Just taken it for a spin....
First time I’ve ever bought a bike without a test ride so was slightly cautious..

What a motor...very zingy! Feels different to my track bike but then that has the full Supersport heads, cams, valves etc so not surprising really. This one is not quite as peaky.
Records show a gas flow done by JHP back in 08...It came with a laughable JHP dyno print showing 139rwbhp....ha ha ha..my arse! @andyb will be pleased to hear this I am sure...
Need to set it up for me but basically....fantastic!
