On the whole, Ducatis are prettier to look at than gold coins: let’s not revisit the Multi-Strudel/999/Sport Classic debate though. I would also feel uncomfortable developing a collection of gold coins as “The Love of Money” has some nasty associations with “The Root of all Evil”!
Bit of a problem with the last seven words of your post, might just be me but can't find the relevance to buying bikes of any mileage .
You can only ride one bike at a time, so once you’ve gone beyond one to ride, one for best, and one in the wash, you’ll find it hard to persuade a non-motorcyclist that you “need” a fourth, fifth...eleventh bike. You Sir are clearly a highly discerning motorcyclist.
