My 2008 HM1100S has stock bodywork and thus no real windshield. What are the options for a setup where 2 hours of highway riding won't leave me battered? At a hair under 6'4" there's a lot of me exposed to the wind. Should I go aftermarket or will OEM bits off a HyperStrada fit? It doesn't need to be electric or retractable or anything; I just want some protection even if it looks a bit shit.
I don't think there was a Hyperstrada before the 821/939, so the front-end bodywork could be completely different to the older air-cooled 1100...
I think you may have got the wrong bike! I too have an 1100s and am only 6’2”, basically there is no wind protection but that’s what makes it so fun and feel so alive! I had a ST4S before and that had so much protection it felt slow, but was actually going far too fast!
I bought a screen from these fellas for my 796, good quality item https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/amr1984?rt=nc&_bkw=ducati+hypermotard&_pgn=3&_oac=1 Didn’t look half bad either. there is this also but more Heath Robinson https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/19379930...motard&hash=item2d1f56bc1a:g:exgAAOSwz-df1c~r
Found another seller who has stock of the screen fitted to mine, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fairing-...ObO5NDvHXry9WE7nKdySW9xL8eXWS-zBoCBAUQAvD_BwE A cheaper solid black screen https://www.carpimoto.com/en-PT/Bik...Fairing-Screen-for-Ducati-Hypermotard-796.htm
I had a PUIG screen on my 796 hyper, I don’t know if they make one for your model. May be worth a look though.
Meh - its was designed to be a raw bike....putting wind protection on an old hyper is like putting lipstick on a pig...
