Yet Another Belt Tension Thread.

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Nasher, Feb 25, 2025.

  1. I've done quite a few sets now, but wouldn't consider charging anyone to do it because the consequences of it going wrong are huge.

However, if somebody local wanted to have a go with me stood behind them and using my tools I'd be happy to support as long as I was plied with a brew or two.

I'd say bring the bike round and stick it on my ramp to do it, but it really needs to be properly cold before starting.

  2. Thanks for that very kind where you based ?

  3. Depends which model. Most of the time taken in a belt change on many is simply getting to them (and putting it all back together again :().

  5. Yep bit of a trek but thanks ,

  6. So on my 2021 Scrambler 800, the installation frequency of the two new belts is not 110 but 140? This is really confusing

  7. Interesting thread. It never would have occurred to me I could use my musical instrument Peterson Strobe Tuner. (Someone on the Peterson forum's even made a 'sweetened' tuning for Ducati cam belts). Particularly useful since I haven't had a laptop in years.

Given how sensitive it is I expect I'll have to buy a mic for it.

Today I'm rearranging the garage to fit a shelving unit to give me the room to work on the 999. So hopefully before long I'll be describing the process on here for belt tensioning using the Peterson StroboPlusHD.
