Featured For Sale 2002 748r - Fresh Desmo Service & Mot

Discussion in 'Ducati Bikes For Sale' started by TelRobinson, May 8, 2026.

  1. Unfortunately it’s time to sell my 2002 748R.

I have owned the bike for 6 years and due to a back injury, I haven’t been able to ride it. I don't 'need' to sell, but would rather it sold than sat in my garage.

The bike has had an extensive amount of money spent on it in my ownership, including a full engine rebuild by Mike at BBS Motorcycles, full paint by Mike at Rage Designs and very recent Desmo service by the amazing team at Pro Team Italia.

The bike rides like an absolute dream and is just taking up space in the garage. It does an amazing job as an eye candy ornament, but it would be better going to be used and enjoyed by an enthusiast.

The bike is kept on a Optimate trickle charger and it starts on the button every time. It’s also kept on paddock stands to stop the tyres from squaring off.

I am 5 minutes from J4 of the M25 in Kent.

I'm away until Thursday 14th May, so I will update the ad with better photos when I get home.

    Major mechanical works carried out
In May 2019 the horizontal belt tensioner stud failed resulting in 2 bent exhaust valves. All 4 valves were replaced with genuine Ducati Ti items and for peace of mind, the Titanium Pankl rods were sent away for X-ray (no issues). Whilst away, these were shot peened at the same time and the engine was given an in-depth inspection to check for wear/issues while it was apart..

All main bearings were changed during these works, belts replaced, valve clearances set and full service carried out by Mike at BBS (Kent).

Work carried out by Mike @ BBS Motorcycles in Bean, Kent. All genuine Ducati parts supplied by Motorapido.

    New Ducati Clutch plates
4 x new valves (horizontal head)
    Rods x-rayed and shot peened
    All new piston rings
    New belts
New tensioner & idler pulleys and bearings
    New Crank bearings
    New champion plugs
    All new gaskets
    New Oil pressure switch
    Valve clearances set
    Oil filter
10w/40 Fully synthetic oil (for running in)
    These works totalled £2700

  2. Are there two Gear Shift levers ?

  3. I’ve just noticed the 2 different ones in the photos! Good spot!

I did have DP rear sets fitted with the DP lever, but changed it back to standard now

  4. perhaps you were checking the position for fit... I guessed either that or some very janky AI.. lol Good luck with the sale

  5. Thanks mate!

    That sounds more plausible

The bike is coming back from its Desmo service at Pro Team Italia next week, so I’ll get some fresh photos when it’s back.

  6. Hello - is this still available?
    Thank you

  7. Hi Mark, I’ve just replied on the Profile message.

  8. Thanks Tel! That's amazing news. Now, all I need to do is find the message. Bear with me mate :)
